Stoned Folk
STONED FOLK
Folky psychedelic rock selection for all the terminal stoners out there. A nod back to all those halycon years hanging out getting nicely mellow on a regular basis hehe.... From folk to blues to rock the mix is naturally heavy on late-60's to mid-70's music but there are a number of more recent tracks sprinkled in & about... A nod to the 1970's when people still believed in coming together in the possibility of aspiring for a better world. We were so close to popular culture driving common debate, think John Lennon, Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye, Nelson Mandela, Muhammed Ali, kids TV shows like Rainbow & Seseme Street, ...and it was all then snatched away from under our feet, labelled first as outdated & now woke.

Leading with the likes of Hawkwind, Gong, The Incredible String Band, The Doors, Grateful Dead and an old favourite, the underrated Quintessence, the mix ebbs, flows and peaks at different times. 1960's UK band Circus hit with a stupendous 10 minute cut of Norwegian Wood. The Deviants are on a similar wavelength on Metamorphosis Explosion. Bob Pegg & Nick Strutt songs are taken from their 1974 folk-rock concept LP The Shipbuilder. Two tracks from The Groundhogs' 1971 Split LP. Three macabre vocal samples from 1962's Jupiter Book of Ballads by the great Isla Cameron and John Laurie. Two killer tracks by Jimmy Page & Robert Plant from their live 1993 album No Quarter, including a killer north Africa infused cut of Kashmir. More vibes from Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Patti Smith, John Martyn, Ry Cooder & a cartload of other great musical wonders.
