Few folk artists (Bob Dylan excepted) have been so widely influencial to so many other artists. Everyone from Fairport & Sandy Denny, to Pentangle & Emmylou Harris, from June Tabor to Joni Mitchell & Judy Collins and from Steeleye Span & Show Of Hands to Paul Simon & Dylan himself site Joan Baez to some degree as an inspiration and a passer-onner of traditional songs & styles. She has of course been a great source of inspiration for aspiring female artists since way back in a male dominated music industry.

Her vibrant stage presence, her superb guitar picking and especially her stunning five octave vocal range are something to behold! Simply outstanding. Joan has gone on to enjoy success over 7 decades, for close to 70 years now and, at 84 years of age, is still active today. She's also well known as an activist, educator, humanist, artist and protestor and continues in these roles to this day. A true living legend.

Features some of her earlist recordings from 1959 and collaborations with Ted Alevisos and Bill Wood (1959) as well as with civil rights comrade Pete Seeger. Live and studio cuts.
