A salute to the oft revolutionary music of Ewan MacColl & his wife & musical partner Peggy Seeger.with five tracks from between the 1950s & 1990s. Special spotlight also on great champions of Irish folk Christie Moore & Planxty. Rollicking good tunes by Shane McGowan & The Pogues from 1984 as well as from Paul Brady (with and without the Johnsons) & Andy Irvine. Scottish balladeer & social revolutionary Dick Gaughan comes with some wonderful songs, including the Irish staple Raglan Road. The Ian Campbell Folk Group sing some insightful original compositions as well as traditional songs. Ian Campbell was, interestingly, father to UB40's Campbell brothers... This explains much about how UB40 were rooted and grounded in music and politics from an early age and you can spot a clear resemblence vocally too.
