Of Time and Rivers...

Image
...of Time and Rivers...  All era folk & psych-folk mix. Songs peak & interlude in & out in the famous tradition of live Grateful Dead shows. Talking about ebb & flow... just like a river flowing...  as the very sands of time... Pete Seeger captured the essence of the inevitible passing of time wonderfully on two songs; River of My People & Of Time and Rivers Passing - both included here, the latter sung by Richie Havens  in salute. See if you can spot any other river songs... Enjoy some SF Grateful Dead party vibes as we continue to commemorate & celebrate Bob, Phil, Jerry and all the other greats up there after Bob Weir's recent passing.  Stella Blue,  Stella Blue When all the cards are down There's nothing left to see There's just the pavement left And broken dreams In the end, there's still that song Comes crying like the wind Down every lonely street That's ever been ....  Stella Blue    ^^stream & do...

Voices from the Mountains

Image
Voices from the Mountains Collection of folk songs from America & the British Isles. As usual selections from disparate eras (1960's to contemporary) run together back to back in a timeless fashion for good, well recorded music always blends together just fine. Music that stands the test of time.    ^^stream & download^^ TAP PLAY TWICE or tap icons to enter the internet archives post^^   Wild Willy Barrett  of Otway & Barrett punk rock fame is also an accomplished acoustic guitarist. His meandering Loneliness of the Long Distance Acoustic Guitarist is pure class. Californian duo feature  Guy & Candie Carawan with strong tracks from the Folk Friends LP compilations (Folk Freak 1978 & 81). Banjo picker the late  Derroll Adams  also stars on these albums alongside Wizz Jones and others. Special tribute to all-weather musician Wizz Jones who passed away in 2025. On the Wings of the Wind

Image
Freedom on the Wings of the Wind Relaxing and reflective selection of relatively contemporary British & North American folk. Oh to be as free as a bird... Taking inspiration from the natural world that surrounds us. Only through peaceful contemplation can one really know peace and communion with nature is a grounding, humbling and experience which helps lift one's spirits while we break free from the rat race & the troubles of the world, even just for a while... Wonderful acoustic guitar playing throughout.   ^^stream & download^^ TAP PLAY TWICE or tap icons^^   Shining a spotlight on the legendary Tracy Chapman with four deep, insightful songs from 1989-2010. In 1977 Bert Jansch teamed up with Martin Jenkins & Danny Thompson to make the avian themed  Avocet album, an instrumental tour-de-force, of which excepts are interspersed throughout this session. Focus on Scotland's  The McCalmans also with four excellent ballads & laments from 1980 ...

Image
The Great Gig in the Sky Bob Weir, Jerry Garcia & Phil Lesh tribute Mix As America's greatest ever touring band passes into the realms of history we take a little time to appreciate this unique & colorful group of musicians. Featuring The Beatles & Pink Floyd as well some crucial Dead covers by Patti Smith , Roots of Creation , Indigo Girls , Levon Helm ,  Stefan Grossman , Willie Nelson , Bob Dylan & Elvis Costello . Give Peace a Chance 2026

Image
Give Peace a Chance 2026   Topical folk songs, many lamenting and protesting war. Economically motivated conflict benefits only the very few while causing immense damage, loss & suffering. The forecasts for 2026 are ominous as the new year immediately kicked off with more illegal US foreign aggression and more threats against sovereign nations. People link up and demand an end to unnecessary warmongering, sabre-rattling and war conscription while pressuring governments to follow the UN Charter on Human Rights and  show full support for  the ICC, the ICJ, the ECHR and the UN itself so they can all get on with their work in making the world a better place for us all. GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!       ^^stream & download^^ TAP PLAY TWICE or tap on logo^^       The mix opens & concludes most fittingly with John Lennon & the Plastic Ono Band .  Longtime advocate for peace  June Tabor  features with some moving songs fr...
