Relaxing and reflective selection of relatively contemporary British & North American folk. Oh to be as free as a bird... Taking inspiration from the natural world that surrounds us. Only through peaceful contemplation can one really know peace and communion with nature is a grounding, humbling and experience which helps lift one's spirits while we break free from the rat race & the troubles of the world, even just for a while... Wonderful acoustic guitar playing throughout.

Shining a spotlight on the legendary Tracy Chapman with four deep, insightful songs from 1989-2010. In 1977 Bert Jansch teamed up with Martin Jenkins & Danny Thompson to make the avian themed Avocet album, an instrumental tour-de-force, of which excepts are interspersed throughout this session. Focus on Scotland's The McCalmans also with four excellent ballads & laments from 1980 & 2005, including the thought provoking In Greenland. Steve Knightley teamed up with Jenna Witts & Seth Lakeman in 2004 for the interesting Cornish coast rooted Western Approaches LP. Another collaborative effort saw Eliza Gilkyson come together with Lucy Kaplansky & John Gorka for 2010's rootsy Red Horse album. Alternative folk roots queen Gillian Welsh brings her distincive sound to the mix, including a great cover of Neil Young's Alberqueque. Lucy Kaplansky adds colour to Young's I Am a Child while the man himself comes in with two deep cuts, Traces (1973) and Homefires (live 2023). Kick back and relax to some sublime guitar. Blessed...

Folk Rock Mixtape A Well That Never Runs Dry The usual blend of the old with the newer as stone-cold classics rub shoulders with a lot of newer material. Its always a good time to hear some Bob Dylan so we revisit 3 blazing mid-70's songs from the man as well as a couple of covers by  Roy Harper and Fairport Convention  with  Sandy Denny . Two more heavyweight 70's cuts from Fairport with the Bonny Bunch of Roses & Polly on the Shore . The Whispering Pines     Listen to The Whispering Pines by Old Timer in Isan on hearthis.at A relaxing selection of ballads, laments and jigs that again highlights shared musical traditions in American and British folk music with magnificent updates of some very old songs. Tributes to the great Bert Jansch from Show Of Hands , Robert Plant and Allison Krauss run side by side with Jansch originals from the 70s & 80s, including 2 great collaborations with Rod Clements from 1988. Clements also features on the song Beachcomber with the classic Geordie folk rock band Jack The Lad . Several Bob Dylan salutes including cuts by Norah Jones , Mumford & Sons , Steve Earle and the late, great Kris Kristofferson .
